While all the places of visit in Spain have beautiful beaches, majestic mountains, churches and cathedral or castles centuries old; Lanzarote has something special in addition to majestic mountain and churches, etc. Some of these interesting features are in Lanzarote only. What is so unique about Lanzarote? Here is the answer:

National Park:

The national park called ‘National Park of Timanfay’ should never be missed. This is actually a natural park which has volcanic fields. It has a mountain from where the city of Lanzarote can be viewed. Apart from this, the park has many rare species of plants not found anywhere in Spain. It is more or less a live laboratory for those who are interested in geological formations and study of volcanoes. Authorities say that many scientists do visit this place to pursue their research on Volcanoes. According to history, these volcanoes had erupted for about six years (1730 to 1736) and caused extensive damage to the region. You can hire a guide who will take you to the top of the hill and you can see the beautiful volcanoes. There is a restaurant where local specialties are served at most reasonable rates. The food is cooked with geothermal heat.

Jameos Del Agua:

This is actually a connecting cave and located at the foot of the Volcano called ‘Monte de la Corona’. According to history, this volcano had erupted about 3000 years ago. According to Spanish language, Jameos means the bubble of the lava which forms itself into a cave and emits certain gas. When the gas emitted escapes, it would lead to explosion. The famous artist Cesar Manrique imitated this cave and created a volcanic bubble without roof and this came to be called as Jameo del Grande. This is the entrance to a big garden which has a swimming pool, dance floor and bars. It has a stage where many music and other performances are given. Many tourists visit this place.

El Golfo:

This is again a volcanic formation in semicircular form. The volcanic eruption caused a crater which leads us to the sea. In fact this crater acts as back water. This crater is believed to have been formed in 1730 preceded by a great volcanic eruption. The crater is full of water and it presents a spectacular view and forms itself into a natural reserve. No one is allowed to bathe here because it may damage the crater. Just near the crater there are many restaurants.
