Malaga has so many things to offer the tourist that it is wise enough to choose this most excellent of Spanish towns. Located on the shores of the Mediterranean, it is found in the province of Andalusia in southern Spain in the center of the Costa del Sol. Blessed with an abundance of sunshine, Malaga is easily accessible from the major cities in Europe. Its wide roads and tropical scenery are always ready to welcome the tourist.

Gibralfaro Castle

One of the first things that the tourist will see is an ancient Moorish castle, now a state guesthouse that commands a wonderful view of almost the entire region. The Gibralfaro Castle is well-preserved and still retains much of its 14th century features. The Arab lifestyle can be seen in the fountains, furnaces and wells that are still intact. Since the castle was an important part of Arab defense in Andalusia, it incorporated many of the military innovations that were introduced in the Peninsula.

Alameda Park

The park in Calle Alameda is quite impressive with one of the best botanical collections in Europe. You can stroll through the quiet pathways and admire the beautiful flowers and trees that have found a home in this park. In winter you can listen to the open air concerts on Sundays.

Museo Pablo Picasso

If you are interested in art, you can visit the Museo Picasso Malaga, a museum dedicated to Malaga's most famous son, Pablo Picasso. It has a collection of Picasso memorabilia donated by his wife and his grandson. Sketches, drawings and other compositions all point to the wonderful genius of this master of painters. It is housed in an old converted palace that is in itself a tribute to Picasso by his countrymen who crafted the doors and roof with much mastery in his honor.

Seafood Restaurants

The restaurants in Malaga offer probably the best seafood in the Costa del Sol with their incomparable tapas, small portions of various dishes that one can wash down with a glass of wine. A favorite dish and one that has won fame is the 'pescaito frito' or small fried fish that goes down well with a cold drink of the local wine at the many posadas.

World Class Golf

The availability of many world class golf courses is another of the strong points of Malaga. No matter what your average is, you can find a course to test your swing. Indeed, Malaga is also known as the 'Costa del Golf' precisely because of the profusion and quality of the golf courses.
